The goal was to create a high energy, immersive piece targeted at young travellers who are seeking affordable, well situated accommodation in the city. Radisson owns a number of different hotel brands, and each one has its own brand identity. The Park Inn brand is designed to be colourful, convenient and affordable, and so these were key aspects that we were keen to emphasise in this piece.
For this project, two of Ether/Awe’s finest made the trip to Riga and made use of our most nimble, portable equipment setups to produce the best visuals we could with limited resources. This included making use of cameras from Sony’s A7 series, as well as DJI’s lightweight RS2 pro gimbal – a setup that was lightweight enough to transport internationally, but that still had the capability to capture high quality 4K footage.
We were also asked to utilise our drone skills to capture aerials of both the hotel and Riga itself, to highlight the proximity of the property to the city centre. In order to achieve this, we liaised with the building management and local authorities ahead of time acquire permission for our flights.
For this project we had covered a lot of ground, getting shots of everything the hotel had to offer, from hand made, wood fired pizzas to a fully featured convention centre, all of which had to be included in the modest 2 minute run time. This called for a fast paced edit that would allow us to incorporate all of these different subjects without dragging out the length of the piece.
